It had been about 15 years before I became pregnant with my second child. While much had faded from the early days with my eldest, the one thing I recall well was his knack for spitting up after feedings. At the recommendation of our pediatrician we began adding cereal to his formula to thicken it; it worked like a charm and the frequency of his spit up decreased. So when Em began spitting up shortly after feedings I consulted with our pediatrician on adding cereal to her formula. I had heard doctors were now quick to put babies on medication and this was something I wanted to avoid as much as possible. Fortunately our pediatrician told us that adding cereal to formula was a thing of the past and introduced us to an already thickened formula. So when Enfamil asked for my assistance in sharing our experiences using Enfamil A.R.™ with Em I jumped on board.
I wanted to be sure that I could help other parents make informed decisions on helping their children who may have uncomplicated reflux just as Em did. Our pediatrician explained that when we add cereal to formula, we change the nutritional profile. Using EnfamilA.R.™ would ensure that Em was receiving the proper caloric and nutritional intake she needed daily with each feeding. The pediatrician said that before she would recommend any kind of medication she wanted us to try Enfamil A.R.™ as a first line management option for Em.
Babies spit up, it’s a way of life as their digestive system is still developing. Our pediatrician insisted on having us first try Enfamil A.R.™ instead of jumping ahead into medications, which I was extremely thankful for. Learning the difference between gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and the more common uncomplicated reflux (GER) is important.
With Enfamil A.R.™ there is nothing extra to buy or add to your baby’s formula. Everything you need, including the proper caloric intake is already pre-measured with each serving. Enfamil A.R.™ is the #1 selling brand of formula for spit up clinically proven to reduce spit up by over 50%, in infants with frequent spit-up while still providing the complete nutrition your baby needs to reach key milestones.
5 Tips to Help Reduce Your Baby’s Spit Up
– Feed your baby in a more upright position
– Burp your baby more frequently during feedings
-Avoid overfeeding and overstimulating your baby during feedings
-Wait at least 20 minutes before laying your baby down after a feeding
-Ask your pediatrician about switching to a thickened formula, like Enfamil A.R.™, and it’s benefits over adding rice cereal to your regular formula
During Em’s 12-month old check-up she was growing and gaining weight like a champ! We were fortunate enough to discover Enfamil A.R.™ and thankful that it helped Em grow!
